Our Assessment of Sarova Mara Game Camp
We recommend Sarova Mara for travellers who want comfortable tented accommodation inside the Reserve, with enough facilities to enjoy time at camp as well as game drives.
The Sekenani location is particularly useful on a road itinerary. Once you enter through the gate, the remaining journey to camp is relatively short. You avoid adding a lengthy drive across the Reserve simply to reach your accommodation.
The trade-off is that Sarova Mara is an established property with substantial communal facilities. Choose it for accommodation, family activities and convenience rather than expecting the atmosphere of a tiny, secluded camp.
For migration travel, location needs closer consideration. Being inside the Reserve does not mean a river-crossing area is immediately nearby. We plan the route around current conditions and allow sufficient time for longer outings where appropriate.
Three nights works well for most clients. Two full days between arrival and departure provide time to explore and enjoy the facilities without rushing.

Sarova Mara’s family facilities make it worth considering for a safari with children.
The Ozone Kids Club welcomes children aged 4–12 for supervised activities. Babysitting is available at an additional charge.
We use each child’s age at the time of travel to establish accommodation charges and applicable park-fee categories. Those policies are separate.
For your family safari, we also consider room capacity, bed arrangements, meal requirements and the length of game-drive outings. A private vehicle allows us to plan breaks and a pace suited to your party.

Isokon Restaurant
Isokon serves local and international dishes, with buffet and set-menu arrangements. The camp’s organic garden also contributes to its food offering.
Our full-board proposals include breakfast, lunch and dinner. For longer safari outings, we coordinate packed-meal arrangements so the day does not have to revolve around returning to camp for lunch.
Oloip Bar
Oloip Bar provides an evening gathering space with a fireplace and terrace. Drinks are checked against your booking inclusions; full board does not automatically include beverages.

Wildlife and the Great Migration
The Mara’s wildlife is a reason to visit throughout the year. Your experience should include time to watch behaviour and explore different habitats, rather than treating the safari as a checklist.
For migration-focused travel, July–October is the usual planning window. Herd locations and crossings vary with conditions.
Sarova Mara’s location should be considered alongside the driving needed to reach the areas relevant to your dates. We recommend sufficient time and realistic expectations.

By Road
Allow approximately five to six hours or longer, depending on your departure point, traffic, stops and road conditions.
We recommend an early departure. The short distance from Sekenani Gate to camp is useful after the overland journey.
By Air
Scheduled safari flights depart from Wilson Airport, Nairobi. Keekorok Airstrip serves the camp, with collection arranged in advance.
Flights generally take around an hour, depending on routing. We confirm the airstrip, baggage allowance and transfer details in your proposal.
Wilson Airport is separate from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Share international flight details before booking so we can assess connection time.

Your Four-Day / Three-Night Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Sarova Mara Game Camp
Road safari: Depart Nairobi in your private safari Land Cruiser and travel to the Masai Mara. After check-in at Sarova Mara Game Camp, enjoy an afternoon game drive if arrival time permits.
Flying safari: Fly from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to the confirmed Mara airstrip. Your dedicated local guide will meet you for the transfer to Sarova Mara Game Camp. Settle in before your afternoon game drive.
Return to camp for dinner and your first overnight stay.
Day 2: Explore the Masai Mara
Spend the day exploring the reserve with your private guide. Choose morning and afternoon game drives with lunch at camp, or a longer safari with a packed picnic lunch, as agreed with your guide.
Look for lions, elephants, giraffes and other wildlife across the Mara’s open plains.
Overnight: Sarova Mara Game Camp.
Day 3: Another Full Day on Safari
